How it all started...

The Greater Whitestone Missionary Baptist Church was organized in August, 1965 with twelve active members, under the leadership of Rev Warren H. Robinson.  At that time the church was located at 11202 Superior Ave.

In 1968, Rev Norman Henderson was called as Pastor of the Greater Whitestone M.B. Church and served until 1977.  

In 1977 Rev Robert A Bailey was called to Pastor the Greater Whitestone M.B. Church until 1984.In 1984 Rev Charles Boyd was called to Pastor GWMBC until 1991.

Expanding the vision...

On December 29th 1991 Rev Willie L Miley was called to Pastor until November 2012.  Pastor Miley stepped down and Pastor Emmitt Jones was called to Pastor 
and served until September 2013.  Pastor Miley returned to Pastor, Greater Whitestone Church until September of 2016.

August of 2016 the Abundantly Living Church under the direction of Pastor CK Washburn combined with the Greater Whitestone Church to form one Church. In October, 2016 Pastor CK Washburn became the Pastor of the combined church and thus the motto GWS and “Come Grow, Worship and Serve with us” was born.

Where we are headed...

Pastor Washburn has continued to lead the Church by the vision God has placed on his heart.  During the year of 2016-2017 several ministries were birthed the Women’s Ministry (Women of Victory), The Praise Dance Team, The Praise & Worship Team and the Outreach Ministry which held the Day of Service on MLK day with “Sandwiches and Socks” delivered to the Men’s Shelter and the Health Fair /Back to School which provided 200 book bags to families in the community. Under Pastor Washburn leadership God has added to the church membership roster and GWS will continue to grow spiritually, numerically and financially.

We are turning on the light to be more active in our church, community, and city with a focus on Discipleship, “From the Inside Out”.
